PNAIS
ACCREDITATION
Foothills
School of Arts and Sciences was accredited by the Pacific Northwest
Association of Independent Schools in 1999.
What does it mean to be accredited by PNAIS?
Accreditation of an institution indicates that it meets or exceeds
the PNAIS Standards of Membership for the assessment of institutional
quality periodically applied through a peer group review process.
An accredited school is one which has available the necessary resources
to achieve its stated purposes through appropriate educational
programs, is substantially doing so, and gives reasonable evidence
that it will continue to do so in the foreseeable future.
Accreditation by PNAIS is not partial but applies to the institution
as a whole. As such, it is not a guarantee of quality of every
course or program offered, or the competence of individual graduates.
Rather, it provides reasonable assurance about the quality of opportunities
available to students who attend the school.
The PNAIS accreditation program is recognized by NAIS and the Northwest
Association of Schools, Colleges, and Universities (NASCU).
What types of schools are in PNAIS?
PNAIS schools represent a diverse group of schools, each of which
has its own mission and culture. Their philosophy, principles,
and practices are consistent with a free, open, and humane society;
therefore schools provide an intellectual environment in which
students are free to express individual points of view and to debate
all sides of a subject.
