Lisa Williams, a registered Art Therapist, will offer a girls' group at Foothills School focusing on the media and the powerful forces influencing girls' identity and self esteem. Group process will allow girls to share openly with one another as they actually create a life-sized representation of their own bodies utilizing various art methods and medias to depict elements of themselves. Through creating and talking openly, girls will be encouraged to think about their own unique bodies, attitudes toward food, and perceptions of physical beauty.
Art therapy is a powerful modality used to provide insight, self-understanding, and a re-envisioning of oneself--and it's coming to Foothills!
