As a community-based and privately-funded independent school, Foothills enjoys a number of advantages - and faces certain challenges - not found in public schools. While public schools are limited to a specific allocation of public funds each year, the opportunities at Foothills are limited only by the enthusiasm and support of the Foothills community. This allows us the flexibility to grow and offer unique and increasing educational opportunities to our students as those resources emerge.
Tuition at Foothills typically covers only 75-80% of the cost of educating each student. To bridge the gap between tuition and total school expenses, the school participates in fundraising activities each year. There are several ways to financially support Foothills:
Direction donations are gratefully accepted at any time. Foothills is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, and donations are tax deductible to the fullest extent allowed by the law. Many area employers, including HP, Wells Fargo and Micron, have matching programs that may increase a donation to the school. There are many options available to make a donation, including stock donations, planned gifts (i.e., making estate plans that include Foothills School), cash, check or credit cards.
Social Good Network
The Social Good Network is a Boise-based start-up that provides a portal to hundreds of Internet retailers, including many of the places you probably already shop online (Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Best Buy, REI, Expedia, Orbitz, Macy’s, Sears, Office Depot, 1-800-Flowers, and more - see a full list here). When you register through the Social Good Network (or “SGN”) site and then link to any of these retailers through the SGN site, 2.5% of the amount of your purchase will go to the non-profit of your choice. Foothills School is one of the non-profits registered with SGN. There is no extra cost to you whatsoever – just start at the SGN site, click from there onto your chosen online retailer, make your purchase as you normally would, and 2.5% of whatever you spend online will go to Foothills (assuming you pick Foothills School as your chosen non-profit). Please spread the word, and register on SGN at: http://www.socialgoodnetwork.com/
Each fall, Foothills holds an Annual Auction and Dinner, which is our most significant fundraising event of the year. Proceeds from the auction help fund financial aid, capital improvements and professional development.
Our Annual Fund Campaign, held each spring, is also crucial to our overall fundraising efforts. We strive for a goal of 100% parent participation, at any level. For the past two years, our students have also become actively involved in our Annual Campaign, and have raised money through pledges for a trek to the top of Table Rock in Boise. Students have raised more than $16,000 for the school's annual campaign since 2011.
Target Take Charge of Education - Foothills participates in the Target Take Charge of Education program. If you have a Target Red Card, you can sign up for Take Charge of Education through the Target website and designate Foothills as your school of choice. One percent of each transaction you make with your Red Card will go to Foothills School.
Box Tops for Education - Foothills also accepts Box Tops for Education, which can be found on hundreds of products, such as Ziploc, Nature Valley Granola Bars and more. Box Tops can be dropped off at the collection box in the front of the school.
In addition to financial support, Foothills also appreciates the gift of time from our families. We invite every family to get involved and participate in a meaningful volunteer activity that suits their available time and interests. There are many opportunities that parents and others can lend their time and expertise to our school, from chaperoning trips to helping in the classroom to working on schoolwide events, such as our Annual Auction. Volunteering is also a wonderful way to get to know the school, your child's classmates, and other parents.
