Over the years, Foothills has worked to create a community in which families and teachers work side by side to support a learning environment that meets the needs of all our children. photo

Regularly scheduled, classroom-level parent meetings provide opportunities for parents and teachers to reflect on documentation of children’s learning. With parents, we discuss ways of extending learning, as a community in the classroom and individually at home. Parents and teachers celebrate successes, share challenges and seek solutions and new directions for learning. There are many opportunities for parents to become involved in the development of the larger school, serving on Board Action Committees or as a school volunteer. Quarterly Board Forums invite parent participation in long-range school planning.

Foothills School of Arts and Sciences isn't the only great school in the valley, but it's the only one that succeeds in the mission to foster a sense of community rather than competitiveness between students. From the Early Learners to the Seniors the students learn to genuinely care about each other. My children were given the gift of empathy along with a terrific education.

My children are at Foothills school because of the dynamic teachers who take a genuine interest in my children’s education. I have always found that children are encouraged to speak their mind and pursue their own interests inside a solid curriculum. As the school continues to grow I have enjoyed watching my children grow with it.

The middle school at Foothills has everything we are looking to provide for our daughter. There is hands on experiential learning. There are small classes so that our daughter doesn't get lost in the shuffle. There are strong community values of personal responsibility and sensitivity to the group that keep the harmful aggression that can occur at this age to a minimum. And most importantly, there are caring, involved adults who know and mentor our daughter so that she can see that there is a place for her in the bigger world beyond school.

The Early Learners Program at Foothills School has far exceeded our family's expectations. We have a very curious 4 year old who loves to learn. The EL program has not only quenched her thirst for knowledge but has also whet her appetite to learn even more. The love and respect that the teachers show toward the children is a great example for teaching the children to love and respect. It is this atmosphere that we feel that our child thrives in. Thank you Foothills!

My son has been at Foothills School since he was three years old. As a young child, he has always looked at the world differently from most people -- thinking out of the box. Now as a nine year old, he still thinks out of the box and continues to have an incredibly creative mind. The Foothills School environment allows him to be who he is and allows his creative mind and his way of thinking to flourish and grow. The Foothills philosophy of education definitely fits the next generation of children coming into this world and will create a generation of strong leaders to lead our world forward in a positive direction.
