Foothills School of Arts and Sciences; Mission Statement

photoOur students are incredible. They impress us every day with who they are and what they are capable of. This page will give you a very small glimpse into our kids--their creativity, their high level of thinking, and their abilty to express themselves. We hope you'll also see the pride we have in them.

Project and Writing Samples

  • An Intermediate (4th grade) writing sample, The Stonewall Jackson Report: the required culminating project during the Intermediates' study of the Civil War.

  • A Senior (6th grade) student's poem, entitled "The Lighted City", which addressed the question: "How can I change how I treat people who are different than me?". Her poem won second place in Boise State University's Martin Luther King, Jr./Human Rights 13th Annual Poetry/Essay Contest.

Student Art

A Junior class (grades 2-3) collaborative recreation of a Georgia O'Keefe painting.

An Early Learner (pre-K) representation of a horse. This piece was the result of a group study of line and circle. We looked at photographs of horses to identify lines and circles in their body structure as a way to represent what we saw. No easy task for three and four year olds!

A collaborative piece of middle school (grades 6-8) art created during their study of Africa.

Primary (K-1st grade) clay work.

In the spirit of our Festival International studies of Indonesia, Foothills’ Intermediate (grades 4-5) students created vibrant images using an Asian wax resist process known as BATIK.
