photoAt Foothills School we value and strive to build strong relationships with parents. We love that parents here want to be involved in the life of the school in all kinds of meaningful ways. As a faculty, we recognize that our school continues to thrive because of the generous support of Foothills Families and Friends.

Volunteer Support
The most important way to support the school, faculty and students is to volunteer your time, energy and creative ideas to the improvement of our school. Volunteer opportunities abound--parents are more than welcome to join class activities, accompany their child’s class for lunch out, chaperone a field trip, lead a class discussion about an area of expertise or interest, or help in any way.

Financial Support
From its inception, Foothills School has worked hard to provide affordable, quality education in the Boise community. Foothills is unique in that tuition dollars cover all of the school’s operating expenses, and we are one of the only PNAIS schools that operates free of debt, which also keeps our tuition the lowest in the region.

We rely on fundraising efforts to raise money for building repairs and improvements, financial aid, and to keep tuition increases to a minimum. Tuition has been kept as low as possible to enable a number of students to benefit from the Foothills experience who would otherwise not be able to afford the costs. The generosity of Foothills Families and Friends has made all of the growth and physical improvements of the past twelve years possible, improvements that have greatly enhanced our ability to provide an outstanding educational experience at affordable tuition levels.

Here are some ways that you can financially support our great school:

Donations
We welcome donations in any form. We are a 501C3 not-for-profit corporation; every donation you make to our school can be used as a deduction on your taxes.

Annual School Auction
Each year Foothills hosts a dinner/dance/auction for adult members of the Foothills community. The auction is our biggest annual fundraising event. It is our hope that every family will make some kind of contribution, whether it be offering the use of a cabin as an auction item or volunteering to help decorate or clean up afterwards. Those who are unable to attend the auction can support the school by making monetary or auction item donations to the school. Proceeds help fund financial aid, capital improvements, and professional development.

Founder’s Scholarship Fund
In honor of Foothills founder and former director, Susan Medlin and her husband John Medlin, a founders’ scholarship fund has been set up in their name. During the first eleven years of the school, Susan and John made countless contributions to the lives of Foothills families by providing the highest level of quality education in Boise. When asked about criteria for this scholarship fund, Susan and John shared their wish that the scholarship money be awarded to a Hispanic student, in an effort to celebrate Hispanic culture and support diversity at Foothills School. For more information about the scholarship fund, please contact JoAnne Suggs (331-9260).
