Being in the heart of downtown Boise affords Foothills many advantages in terms of building community partnerships. We have great access to amazing resources, with JUMP (Jack's Urban Meeting Place) where our K-9 students go daily for lunch, recess, and PE, the downtown Public Library, the Wassmuth Center for Human Rights, the Boise River where Foothills keeps a section of the Greenbelt clean near Julia Davis Park, the Boise Art Museum, BSU (Boise State University), Zoo Boise, nearby restaurants like The Warehouse where our older students go to “lunch out” on a regular basis, and Ballet Idaho, BCT (Boise Contemporary Theater) and Shakespeare's Idaho Theater for Youth all within a few blocks of the school.
Many of our Project Based Learning projects connect Foothills students with downtown organizations, from the Ada County Courthouse when Jr. High students were learning how to create persuasive arguments for a mock trial to BSU's science department, allowing students to experience real-world partnerships with Foothills School's neighbors.
