Take Advantage of the Idaho Education Tax Credit!
As an Idaho taxpayer, your donations to Foothills School of Arts and Sciences may be eligible for a 50% education tax credit. This credit is available regardless of whether you itemize deductions.
Note: A tax credit is a reduction to the actual tax you owe or an increase in your refund.
--Idaho Married Couples may take up to 50% of a $2,000 gift (a tax credit of $1,000)
--Idaho Individuals may take up to 50% of a $1,000 gift (a tax credit of $500)
--Idaho Corporations may take up to 50% of a $10,000 gift (a tax credit of $5,000)

ANNUAL FUND FAQS
Q. WHAT IS THE ANNUAL CAMPAIGN?
A: The Annual Campaign is a twelve-week fundraising effort that exists to cover the gap between tuition and the actual cost of educating a student at Foothills. Like all independent schools, our budget is set so that tuition remains as low as possible to provide strong compensation to teachers and resources for our students to meet our mission. Even families paying full tuition are not paying the full cost of a Foothills education; the Annual Campaign gifts help bridge this gap. Every year, Foothills seeks 100% participation from all current families, faculty, staff, and trustees. We also seek support from the entire Foothills School community including alumni families, alumni, grandfamilies, and friends of the school.
Q. WHY SHOULD I CONSIDER A GIFT TO THE ANNUAL CAMPAIGN WHEN I ALREADY PAY TUITION?
A: Your gift to the Annual Campaign directly influences the educational experience all students have at Foothills. The availability of more resources equals access to more educational tools and opportunities. Your generous tax-deductible gift allows our students to have access to programs and resources that turn an excellent education into an exceptional one.
Q. WHY NOT JUST RAISE TUITION?
A: Philanthropy is part of Foothills' culture. By keeping tuition more financially accessible, we gain a more economically diverse student population which enriches every student’s educational experience. Also, contributions to Foothills are tax-deductible, whereas tuition payments are not. When you donate to the Annual Campaign, you help keep tuition payments lower and your gift entitles you to a tax credit from both the State of Idaho and the federal government.
Q: HOW ARE ANNUAL FUND GIFTS USED?
A: The money donated to the Annual Fund is used within the fiscal year in which it is received and supports a portion of Foothills’ operational needs, including hiring and retaining outstanding faculty members, enhancing academic and extracurricular programs, maintaining facilities, and enabling the school to offer financial assistance to families who otherwise would not be able to afford a Foothills education.
Q: HOW MUCH AM I EXPECTED TO GIVE?
A: We ask each family to give to their family's best ability. For some families, that may be $100. For others, it is $1,000, $2,000, or $10,000. When thinking about the amount of your gift, consider recurring monthly installments that spread your gift out over the year. The great news about the Idaho Education Tax Credit is that it provides 50% of your donation back to you (for donations up to $1,000 per individual, $2,000 per couple filing jointly, and $10,000 for companies).
Q: CAN I USE MY EMPLOYER MATCHING FOR THE ANNUAL FUND CAMPAIGN?
A: Yes! We welcome this opportunity for additional dollars and are prepared to complete the necessary paperwork in order to receive them. If your company is not listed, please ask your HR department if such a program exists.
Q: CAN I DESIGNATE MY GIFT TO A SPECIFIC AREA?
A: Absolutely! Annual Campaign gifts are used for student experiences, faculty salaries, financial assistance, and other areas of budget enhancement each year. If you want to restrict your gift to a specific area of enhancement in excess of our budget, we can help you invest that as a restricted gift.
Q: WHEN SHOULD I GIVE?
A: The Annual Campaign is a twelve-week effort to support the current year's needs. Gifts and pledges are made during the twelve-week campaign beginning October 1 and ending December 31, 2024, and payment is welcome any time through June 30, 2025. If you have already made your gift, we thank you for your support!
Q: IF MY FAMILY RECEIVES FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE AND I DONATE TO THE ANNUAL FUND CAMPAIGN, WILL IT AFFECT MY AID?
A: No. There is no correlation. Financial Assistance information is completely confidential.
Q: CAN I GIVE MONTHLY?
A: You can give automatically monthly to the Annual Campaign by credit card or by electronic funds transfer. The duration of your recurring gift can be for the length of time that you wish and can be specified when you make your gift.
