Welcome to Foothills School of Arts & Sciences!
Foothills School of Arts & Sciences is the oldest independent school in Idaho’s Treasure Valley. Opening its doors in 1992 to 12 students, and having grown to more than 150 students in preschool through 9th grade, the school prides itself on having an inquiry-based, flexible curriculum that meets individual learning needs. Classes and the school are purposely kept small so that students can know each other well, regular field trips are possible, students are afforded individual time with teachers, and student leadership potential is realized every day. Foothills School is a place where students are empowered and encouraged to grow to become their best selves – believing in themselves and their unique abilities, taking pride in their thinking and work, and trusting that their community is there to support them.
Foothills School works every day to be a model professional learning community. In this environment, teachers creatively employ innovative as well as more traditional teaching practices to make student learning exciting and meaningful. Faculty members are also active researchers, working with national leaders in inquiry and differentiation to engage best practices in curriculum development, assessment of learning, and innovations in educational practice.
Our learning community extends to everyone who is a part of Foothills. Our faculty and staff work collaboratively with parents as partners, we create shared learning opportunities for the adults in our school, and we work to engage with community partners throughout the Treasure Valley. Foothills School has openings for contract teachers in music (elementary level) and theatre (introduction to theatre for Middle School students) for the 2010-11 academic year. We are also currently accepting applications for persons interested in teaching in our CHOICE electives curriculum.
